Over 400 seniors living at our Santa Rosa properties were evacuated. Staff worked with local pharmacies to ensure that all medications for Villa Capri residents were replaced within 24 hours of the evacuation. Medications from the other three communities were retrieved and distributed to residents to ensure their medical needs were met.
The culinary team assembled at the evacuation site and made breakfast for all residents at the evacuation site the morning of the fire.
Some residents were reunited with their families throughout the day of the fire and elected to stay with them while repairs and restoration took place in the Fountaingrove neighborhood. For those who stayed at the evacuation site, Oakmont Senior Living arranged for residents to temporarily reside at two other retirement communities in the Greater Bay Area while repairs and restoration took place in the Fountaingrove area. Our dedicated Oakmont employees – many of whom lost their own homes to the fires – worked tirelessly to provide around-the-clock emotional support, lead engaging activities for our residents and ensure that all of their needs were met during this trying time. Residents were provided with the comparable daily accommodations they received at their respective Santa Rosa communities while they resided at a temporary location during the restoration process.
For residents who had previously resided at Villa Capri, Oakmont Senior Living set up a phone hotline for families, which provided information about availability at other retirement communities in the area. Then, staff members coordinated relocation of all Villa Capri residents to ensure they were placed with suitable accommodations. All Villa Capri residents were situated in new living situations within two weeks of the fires.
